Ajwain Seed: The Unique Spice That Will Elevate Your Dishes
As a traveling chef, I've had the good fortune to sample a broad variety of cuisines from various civilizations. But it wasn't until I discovered Organic Ajwain Seed in Jodphur, India that I felt I had discovered something extraordinary and unique.
As I walked through a congested spice shop named Spice Paradise, I was struck by the pungent, almost acrid aroma of ajwain seed. Curios, I purchased a sachet and began experimenting with it in my cooking. I was delightfully delighted to discover that this spice's profound, earthy nuances enhanced the flavor of everything from soups and stews to marinades and seasonings.
Carom seed, or ajwain seed, is ubiquitous in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine. Although it is frequently used in spice blends, I believe it appears clearest when used alone. The flavor of the tiny seeds is difficult to describe; it is slightly astringent, slightly herbaceous, and has thyme and cumin undertones.
Ajwain Seed is one of my favorite ingredients in a poultry marinade. Despite the recipe's complexity, the meal's richness and juiciness transport you to Mumbai's bustling streets.
